THESE pictures taken by town photographer Tarquin Shaw-Young show the moment the beacon was lit on the Malvern Hills to mark The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
It was lit – along with more than 2,022 throughout the UK and the Commonwealth – on the Worcestershire Beacon by Vice Lord-Lieutenant Roger Brunt CBE.

A local bugler performed a piece entitled ‘Majesty’ written specially for the occasion before the lighting.
A beacon chain was used as a communication tool in the past but has become a symbol of unity across towns, borders, countries and continents.
Similar services have become a tradition for royal jubilees, weddings and coronations.
