A FAMOUS face known to millions across the country joined members of Great Malvern Rock Choir in performing a grand concert at one of the nation’s finest settings.

Singer and actress Toyah Wilcox joined the Malvern group and other Rock Choirs across the West Midlands for two very special performances on Saturday, July 19 at Birmingham’s Symphony Hall.

During an eventful career in the showbiz world, Wilcox had eight Top 40 UK Chart singles, released over 20 albums, wrote two books and appeared in a number of films and television shows.

Audience members were treated to Toyah’s classic hit ‘Mystery’ as well as Rock Choir’s performance of uplifting songs such as ‘Livin On A Prayer’, ‘Proud’ and ‘True Colours’.

Choir leader, Helen Just, who runs fun weekly sessions in Great Malvern, Droitwich Spa and Worcester was thrilled with her choir members’ performance.

“The choir members were just brilliant,” she said. “They all really enjoyed performing with Toyah and I’m sure it’ll be a memory that sticks with them forever.”

After the performance, choir members and the audience were invited to dig deep and make donations to The Teenage Cancer Trust inspired by Stephen Sutton who raised millions of pounds for the charity and passed away in May aged 19 from colorectal cancer.
