THE NAMES of people fondly remembered by their loved ones have gone up on display at Malvern Theatres.

A 50-inch television screen has been provided by the Rotary Club of Malvern as part of the annual Tree of Light project, and has replaced the previous folding panels.

The screen displays a backdrop of the Malvern Hills with a list of names scrolling upward in alphabetical order by surname.

A book of remembrance is also at the Grange Road theatre with a record of all of the names and forms are nearby for people to put forward someone they want to remember.

More than 800 lives have been registered so far and the scheme is well on target to raise in the region of £10,000 which will be split between Macmillan Cancer Support and Prostate Cancer Research Centre.

On Monday, December 1, the screen will be joined by the Tree of Light in Priory Park which will be switched on at 6pm.

Rotarian Mick Wasley said: “This is the 12th year we have done this and it has been very successful. This bit of technology brings it into the 21st century.”
