Tyre Hill stable praised for hard work and dedication

MALVERN-based David Dennis Racing have been praised for their hard work and dedication after being recognised as one of the Midlands’ leading trainers.

The new scheme, organised by the Bordeaux Undiscovered Wine Shop and Stratford Racecourse celebrates the commitment of the stable staff behind the leading trainer at the end of each year.

David Dennis, who recently reached his 100th winner milestone, was first past the post this year, earning him the position of leading trainer at Stratford – one of the country’s leading small summer jumps racecourse.

Nick Stephens of Bordeaux Undiscovered, who sponsor the races at Stratford and supply the winers for the course’s restaurants, said: “It’s always the owners and the trainer that get the recognition and glory when the yard has a winner so we decided to create an award that celebrates the unsung heroes of horse racing – the stable staff.

“The aim of the award is to highlight the hard work and dedication of the team behind the scenes.

“This year we were proud to recognise the staff at the David Dennis Racing stables in Tyre Hill.”

After receiving the award, David said he was extremely grateful for all the work which has gone on behind the scenes after challenging early years in the sport.

He added: “Our team were delighted to be recognised this morning by Nick and Stratford Racecourse.

“We were so proud to be number one on Stratford’s leading trainers list for 2016, but having the stable staff recognised too made it even more rewarding.

“The highlight of our winners at Stratford throughout 2016 has to be Roman Flight, when he landed the totequadpot Four Places In Four Races Handicap Chase by an impressive 16 lengths back in October.

“The early years are always the most challenging in a sport as competitive as horse racing so I am extremely grateful for all of the hard work that the team at the yard have put in and we very much look forward to many more runners and hopefully winners back at Stratford during 2017.”

There is more to look forward to at David Dennis Racing as the building of the new state-of-the-art 60-stable yard at Tyre Hills is virtually complete.

The existing stables are already well equipped with two purpose built all weather gallops, an equine pool, solarium and indoor school and horse walker, all of which are on site.

However, the development project will incorporate an additional eight-horse walker, modern wash down bays as well as new and improved staff facilities in addition to the light and airy loose boxes designed to provide excellent ventilation for each horse.
