RHS Malvern Spring Festival has announced children under the age of 16 will gain free entry to this year’s four-day spectacular.

Over the course of the action-packed family weekend which runs from Thursday, May 11, to Sunday, May 14, children can enter for free to enjoy a wide range of activities.

Budding horticulturists can get their hands on in the exploration zone where guests will learn about the world of plants and gardens.

In the health and wellbeing garden, Pathways Day Service is hosting a herb hunt for little ones to discover their characteristics and how to grow them.

And due to popular demand, the much-loved Mr Alexander returns in his one-man show featuring a unique and captivating blend of magic, juggling, unicycling, balance and illusion.

Jane Furze, head of RHS Malvern Spring Festival, said: “The spring festival is a remarkable event, not just for grown ups, but for children too.

“We’re passionate about engaging the next generation of Alan Titchmarshes and Carol Kleins and nurturing young talent.

“With a host of activities lined up including hands on workshops, live entertainment and interactive story-telling, Family Weekend promises to have something for everyone big or small.”

The festival welcomes popular children’s authors for fun-filled, interactive sessions based around wildlife and the outdoors.

Ed Vere will teach youngsters how to draw his Grumpy Frog book character, Andy Steed introduces the Anti Boredom Book of Brilliant Outdoor Things To Do alongside Tracey Corderoy’s craft and canine capers with robber dogs, Shifty Mcgifty and Slippery Sam.

Children are invited to create their own bird book with best-selling author Matt Sewell and watch Czech illustrator, Petr Horacek, bring his characters to life with a live drawing session.

Tickets are now on sale and can be booked by calling 01684 584924 or by going online to the www.rhsmalvern.co.uk website.
