A 70-YEAR-OLD woman has died following a fatal collision on the Malvern Road in Powick.

Witnesses are being sought after the incident on Wednesday (February 15) at about 6.45pm.

A black BMW struck a pedestrian who was pronounced died at the scene.

PC Mark Hyett from the Operations Policing Unit said “Our thoughts are very much with the families involved.

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and two Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Cars and a BASICS emergency doctor attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find the pedestrian, an elderly woman, to have sustained life-threatening injuries. Ambulance staff administered advanced life support to her at the scene.

“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts it became clear that nothing more could be done to save her and she was confirmed deceased at the scene.”

“The driver of the car did not require treatment.”

Anyone with information or dash cam footage is asked to call PC Hyett on 101 extension Ext. 773 3401 or e-mail [email protected]

The road remains closed this morning while investigations into the incident continue.

Drivers are being urged to avoid the area and find alternative routes.

The suggested diversion from Worcester is via B4424 Callow End, B4211, to Guarlford and Barnard’s Green, B4208, to Newland.

From Malvern, use the same route in reverse.

Officers also thanked drivers for their patience.
