AN UPTON-upon-Severn resident was threatened with arrest and told to pay £1,000 in a bogus phone call.
The incident happened at 9.55am on Tuesday when an unknown man, described as having an Asian accent, telephoned a resident on Rectory Road claiming they were from the Government.
He then claimed the resident owed unpaid income tax.
The caller further threatened the home owner with arrest, stated their bank accounts would be frozen and told them £1,000 should be paid.
He appeared to know the person’s name and postcode.
The call came from telephone number 020 3807 2070.
