PERRINS House nursing home have been treated to a delightful Valentine’s Day spectacle.

This special display, crafted with love and care by Vanda Jenkins and Dawn Barnes who are members of the home’s domestic team, has been capturing the hearts of residents and staff alike.

Dawn and Vanda bring their passion for creativity to life each month through intricately designed displays to keep residents engaged with seasonal themes and topical subjects.

Vanda said: “Our displays cater to a variety of interests and occasions.

“They sometimes evoke memories or bring to mind a story from our residents’ pasts. It’s so heartwarming to hear their stories and know that they enjoy our displays so much and engage with all the elements on show.”

Dawn, the poetic half of the duo, said “I compose and write all the poems myself, keeping our residents at the forefront of my thinking and taking my inspiration from everywhere and everyday life.

The Valentine’s display, adorned with Cupids, doves, and romantic verses, serves as a backdrop for cherished memories and heartfelt conversations.

Jo Bennett, the general manager, acknowledges the positive impact of Dawn and Vanda’s work.

She said: “The displays are an imaginative and artistic reminiscing aid and it’s so encouraging and pleasing to hear and see the positive reactions from out residents.”

Looking ahead, Dawn and Vanda have exciting plans for future displays, including Easter, Mothering Sunday, and even a Teddy Bear’s Picnic.
