'Very rude' rogue trader operating in Kempsey

Malvern Editorial 23rd Aug, 2023   0

A POSSIBLE rogue trader operating in Kempsey has prompted the police to issue advice and guidance on avoiding the scams.

The incident involved a man being ‘very rude’ when his offer of tree pruning was declined by a resident in Old Vicarage Close, Kempsey on Tuesday, August 22.

The man was reportedly driving a white open back Ranger truck, with the registration VN72 ZGU.

Kempsey and Alfrick Safer Neighbourhood Team officers have urged residents to keep an eye out for the vehicle and report anything suspicious.

They said: ” This is a timely reminder that at this time of year rogue traders may be operating in the county.

“We are concerned that residents across our Rural Policing area may be targeted as we are now in the summer season when gardens needs trimming, and roofs and driveways need cleaning.

“Do not be fooled by cold callers who look professional with business cards and sign-written vehicles.”

West Mercia Police have advised that residents do not accept work from cold callers or leaflets posted through doors, advising instead to find a trusted contractor to carry out necessary works.

Police also asked residents to make their elderly and vulnerable neighbours aware of the issue, as they are most at risk from this type of activity.
