Villagers rally to keep their shop

VOLUNTEERS have rallied round to keep a village shop in Bromsberrow Heath.

The Shop at Bromsberrow opened just two days after the closure of the area’s original store following the owners’ retirement, with premises found 100 yards away on the business park.

The new location was cleaned, decorated and fixtures and fittings as well as some items of stock donated by John and Carol Meredith from their now closed shop were put in place.

Jan Long, community shop committee secretary said: “Crowds attended the opening and two members of the public even arrived on horseback to make their purchases.

“This achievement was made possible by the good will and community spirit of many people who have donated goods, time and funding and we owe them a debt of great gratitude.

“We are still seeking more volunteers to help in the shop, just a few hours a week.”

The store opens 9am to 5pm weekdays (lunch 12.30pm to 1.30pm) and from 9am to 12.30pm at the weekends.
