A MALVERN man has landed nearly three years in prison following a robbery in the town.
Shane Standen, 38, of Elgar Avenue in Malvern was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail at Worcester Crown Court last Friday (October 25).
Standen’s 32-month jail term comes after a robbery at the Co-op on Upper Hoswell Road in Malvern on September 8, 2022.
During the robbery, he threatened staff members with violence and used severe force in attempt to steal high value items.
Police Constable George Bradbury, of South Worcestershire’s Neighbourhood Crime Fighting Team, said: “Standen’s actions not only cause financial damage to businesses and their owners, but also emotional distress to those present.
“Those people showed great courage in the face of unprecedented danger.
“Standen is a violent prolific shoplifter whose sentence is welcomed within our community.”
