A CHARITY supporting youngsters in Malvern has received a welcomed donation of over £550 thanks to an event held by the town council.
Malvern Town Council raised the sum for the mayor’s chosen charity, Cube Youth, from a sold-out quiz night held last Friday (March 21) at Malvern Victoria Bowls Club.
14 teams of up to 6 quizzers, took on 9 challenging rounds with topics ranging from general knowledge to themes from children’s TV shows and from sport to a specific round on Malvern and Worcestershire.
Mayor of Malvern, Marilyn Birks presided over the event as quiz master and a raffle, light refreshments and craft stall contributed to the superb total raised from this event.
The winning team were “Loose Buzzards” who scored an impressive 74 from a possible 100 points.
The money raised will allow Cube Youth to continue providing free activity session for young people agreed 10 – 18, whether it’s learning something different, boosting confidence, meeting new friends or just relaxing, they provide activities within a safe space for everyone.
Marlyin Birks, Mayor of Malvern said: “This is the first time I’ve been a Quiz Master, and I had tremendous fun with all the participants who vied for first prize.
“The winning team kindly donated their win of £50 to the mayor’s charity, Cube Youth – what a great gesture.”
