Volunteers rewarded for hard work

KINDHEARTED volunteers in Malvern have been rewarded for their hard work.

Awards were presented by Festival Housing to around 50 volunteers at an event in Malvern Vale Community Centre, which celebrated the contributions of those who help with health and fitness programmes, lunch clubs for the elderly and children’s activities in school holidays.

Poolbrook resident Josh Bell, 11, (pictured with Kate Taylor) said he was ‘shocked’ to receive the Young Volunteer of the Year prize.

“The best bit of the volunteering was helping out at the sports event at Malvern Vale. I will definitely do more volunteering.”

Festival Housing manager Alan Moorhouse added: “Volunteers are at the heart of what Festival does in its communities.

“People who give their time and skills as volunteers can get a lot out of it like meeting people, developing skills, boosting their CV and knowing that they are making a difference. We want to make sure that we let our volunteers know that we appreciate the contribution they’re making.”
