WALKERS in Worcestershire are being reminded to keep to social distancing rules after crowds gathered on the Clent, Lickey and Malvern hills.
West Mercia Police recently dealt with numerous reports of people not observing social distancing.
People living close to Clent and to the Malvern Hills were said to be alarmed by what they were seeing.
Bromsgrove District Council leader Karen May said: “It’s been really concerning to hear from residents in my local area who were concerned about people travelling out of their way to visit the Clent and Malvern Hills.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to remind our residents to think local and to stay local when planning your daily exercise.
“I know open air is a great relief and it improves mental health but we all need to continue play our part in keeping the county’s numbers down.
“Following the restrictions is the best way we can all pull together and stop the spread of the virus.”
The County Council has asked people living in Worcestershire to make sure they are sticking to social distancing guidance when out and about.
Inspector Lee Page of West Mercia Police said: “We have seen a large number of people travelling to the beautiful open spaces in our county for exercise.
“We don’t want stop anyone from getting out in the fresh air but if it’s too busy in certain locations than try somewhere else.”
