Warning to dog owners after sheep injured in attack on the Malvern Hills

DOG OWNERS have been warned to keep their pets on a lead after incidents of sheep worrying and an attack in the Malvern Hills.

The attack occurred last weekend with three sheep being injured and one of these having to be put down.

Police said they were aware the majority of pet owners are responsible, but as a last resort, under the Animals Act 1971 a farmer, landowner or anyone acting on their behalf has a legal right to shoot a dog to protect their property, that being their livestock.

Anyone with information on last week’s attack on the sheep should report it on the West Mercia Police website or call officers on 101.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
