AN HISTORIC 16th century Malvern pub devastated by fire in June will be pulling pints for customers again this bank holiday weekend.

The Bluebell Inn has been closed since the blaze in late June which investigators discovered was started by sunlight shining through a broken glass bottle in a flowerbed which, because it was dry, ignited a hedge.

Fire then spread to the historic building and saw crews from Malvern, Worcester, Upton-upon-Severn and Ledbury attend the blaze in a bid to salvage the popular Barnards Green venue.

Since being allowed back into the building, owners Marstons have given the pub a revamp with an new extended outdoor seating.

A soft opening took place from 6pm on Thursday with drinks and live entertainment and the official reopening took place at 12pm on Friday with food being served all day until 9pm.

The roof, which was damaged, has been fully reinstated and the pub has been given a full refresh.

Inside there will be a new look featuring Farrow and Ball colours and new soft furnishings in the seating areas and a new look outdoor area.

Management team Andrew Spencer and Tony Apsley said: “We can’t wait to re-open the doors – we’ve really missed our regulars.

“The whole community has been fantastic, and we have appreciated their support and messages.

“The new look is great and feels fresh and we are ready to serve our guests, the team are all so excited to welcome everyone back.”

The ever-popular menu will be ready to go from lunchtime on the day and regulars can pop back in on Thursday evening for a quick drink and have a sneak peek at the new look.

Andrew added: “There are a couple of new additions in the outside drinking eating area which has been re-designed with a new fee.

“As always, our full range of cask ales will be available and of course we will be serving our popular shelf of gins.”
