Witnesses wanted following cyclist collision at Blackmore Road

Malvern Editorial 5th Apr, 2016 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

POLICE are appealing for information after it was reported a driver who collided with a cyclist on Saturday (April 2) failed to exchange details before driving off.

The incident occurred on the B4208 Blackmore Road at 6:30pm at the junction with Hanley Road.

A male cyclist in his 30s was waiting in traffic at the junction and it is alleged that when the lights changed and the cyclist has indicated to turn right, a white ‘M’ registration Citroen C3 had collided with him causing him to be knocked from his bicycle.

Police say the driver of the Citroen was reported to have stopped briefly at the scene of the accident but refused to exchange details and has continued on to the Hanley Road and out of sight.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries including bruising to his legs and received treatment at Malvern Community Hospital following the incident.

Investigating officer, PC Lowe, of Malvern Police Station said “It is a legal requirement to exchange details at the scene of a collision.

“In this case it appears that the driver has failed in their obligation and I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the collision or recognise the white Citroen to contact police quoting incident number 0596S 020416.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
