A FATAL collision leading to the death of a woman in Malvern yesterday (Thursday, June 26) has prompted a police appeal for information.

The collision involving three vehicles – a motorbike and two cars – occurred at around 9.30pm close to Chances Pitch and Colwall in Malvern.

A woman, in her 50s, who was riding a black Kawasaki motorbike sadly died at the scene. She was travelling in towards Ledbury at the time of collision.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival we discovered two patients.

“Sadly, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the motorcyclist, a woman, and she was confirmed dead at the scene.”

The two other vehicles involved were a Silver VW Golf and a black Skoda which were both travelling in the direction of Malvern.

Both police and ambulance crews arrived on scene, with road closures in place until the earlier hours of this morning. The road is now re-opened.

West Mercia said the drivers of the cars were not injured, while a West Midlands Ambulance Service statement said one of the car drivers was injured and taken to hospital. They said however, his injuries were not believed to be serious.

Following the collision, a 19-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He is currently in custody while enquires are ongoing.

DC Maule said: “Our thoughts are with the family at this extremely difficult time and we ask that their privacy is respected.”

The force urged anyone with information about the collision or those with dashcam footage to get in touch.
