Woman's card and cash stolen after being followed from store

A WOMAN had her debit card and more than £200 stolen after she was followed from a Malvern supermarket.

The incident happened between 2pm and 2.40pm on Sunday, October 18, at Victoria Park Road.

The victim had minutes earlier been shopping at Lidl on Worcester Road where she noticed a woman standing close to her while she entered her PIN number to buy her goods at the store.

After leaving Lidl she then disposed bottles at the bottle bank in the car park of Victoria Park. She then returned to her vehicle and sat in the driver’s seat when she saw a light coloured car which had stopped next to her.

The passenger in the car got out, approached the victim asking her for directions on a sat nav to the hospital. The victim opened her car window to speak to the female who said she was from Paris and spoke in broken English.

The female returned to her car to get a map and then asked the victim to show her on the map where they were.

A man, who was driving the vehicle, then got out of the car and went to the victim’s passenger side, opened the door and perched on the front passenger seat. He then leaned across towards the driver seat as though he too was looking at the map. After finding Malvern on the map the two left and drove away.

The victim then felt uncomfortable about what happened as her handbag was on the passenger seat and checked her card wallet discovering her Natwest debit card was missing. A total of £240 was taken from a cashpoint and a transaction made at Boots which were not made or authorised by the victim.

Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101, citing incident number 0403S 181015.
