A GROUP of Worcestershire women have taken on a strenuous endurance challenge to raise funds for charity.
The women, known by their team name ‘Farm Assured’ embarked on the Paddle, Plod and Pedal challenge on September 30 and have raised nearly £2,500 for St Richard’s Hospice.
During the gruelling 35 mile journey, Helen, Ann, Jackie, Phoebe, Gemma, Maggie, Ann, Jane, Frankie and Hannah paddled in a bell boat from Pershore to Tewkesbury, plodded from Tewkesbury to Severn Stoke before pedaling back to Pershore.
Each stage of the challenge is around 10 to 12 miles and teams have all day to complete the journey at their own pace.
All successful challengers were welcomed back in Pershore for well deserved refreshments and a medal to celebrate their success.
St Richard’s Hospice was the team’s chosen charity because of it’s work in supporting adults living serious progressive illness, and helping to improve the quality of life following diagnosis and during treatment.
Every year the hospice supports in the region of 3,100 individuals in Worcestershire.
