Worcester among most expensive UK cities for students

Malvern Editorial 9th Jun, 2024   0

A RECENT STUDY has revealed Worcester is the eighth most expensive city for students in the UK.

The average monthly expenditure was £1,782, this figure includes rent, which is a major contributor to the high cost of living.

Despite the financial challenges, Worcester remains a popular choice for students due to its reputable educational institutions and vibrant student life.

London stands as the most expensive city for students, with an average monthly expenditure of £2,409.

This is significantly higher than the national average for student expenses.

In stark contrast, Bangor is the cheapest city for students, with an average monthly expenditure of £916. This is 35 per cent less than the national average.

The research, conducted by nodepositfriend.com, used data from Numbeo and the Office of National Statistics (ONS) to analyse various expenses such as the cost of rent, transportation, and living essentials.

Steven Ellis of NoDepositFriend.com said: “The cost-of-living crisis is influencing the university choices of many students, making it a crucial factor to consider. Before selecting a university, it’s essential to research and ensure that the institution offers the course you are interested in.

“Living at home while studying can help save money, but it may impact your overall university experience.”
