A COUNTY netball team which trains across Worcester and Malvern is hosting a charity tournament later this summer with all proceeds going to Cancer Research UK.
Pick and Fizz’s event will boast a great family day out with organised raffles, penalty netball shoot-outs, face painting, a bouncy castle and games for parents and children.
The tournament is due to take place on August 18 at 10am – at a venue yet to be confirmed – with an after-party at The Berkley Arms in Worcester.
Rebecca Lloyd, co-captain of Pick and Fizz, said: “We have decided to host a charity tournament as a few of our members currently have family or friends suffering with cancer and the charity is incredibly close to our hearts.
“We also want to share our love for Netball and hopefully encourage new people, whether they’ve never played before, haven’t played since school or play every week to come and enjoy and make money for a wonderful cause.”
Sisters Amy Jeffries and Rebecca started the netball club in 2017 as an outlet for individuals who suffer from anxiety, depression or postnatal depression and currently participate throughout the Malvern, Worcester and Droitwich Fun Leagues.
As the club has progressed, more than 50 ladies have now joined.
“We’re extremely proud of how far our club has come in the last year,” said Rebecca.
“All of our ladies come along with a smile every week and put in 110 per cent into their games.
“We hope this event will prove to be a fabulous day out for families, especially all the mums that play in our league, but we get to spread awareness for the fantastic work that Cancer Research does every day.”
