A MAN wanted for thefts and shoplifting offences in Malvern was arrested yesterday evening (Tuesday, December 10).
The man from Worcester, aged 41, was located by two PCSO’s who were on foot patrol in Malvern Link following a further report of suspected shoplifting.
The suspect was ‘swiftly’ located by community support officers Becky Bullock and Kevin Tudge before being arrested and taken into custody.
Both officers cover the Barnards Green side of Malvern as part of the Pickersleigh and Chase Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT).
A spokesperson for Pickersleigh and Chase SNT said: “We want to send out a strong message to any would be shoplifters, we take shop thefts extremely seriously in Malvern and we will deal robustly with you.
“People who work in shops are trying to earn an honest living and we look to support all that do, especially at this time of year when they are working extra hard.”
West Mercia Police have confirmed that high visibility and plain clothed officers will be patrolling Malvern retail areas in the run up to Christmas to deter and target shoplifters.
