FIFTY walkers from the Worcestershire Ambassadors smashed their £50,000 fund-raising target by walking 50km towards the St Richard’s Hospice Build 2020 campaign.

The ‘Amazing Adventurers’ team of 50 completed the 31 mile course as part of a 359 strong field walking the Thames Path Challenge from Egham in Surrey to Henley on Thames.

The Ambassadors’ team included Mayor of Worcester Coun Jabba Riaz, Phil Dutton, chair of the Worcestershire Ambassadors, Tricia Cavell, fund-raising director of St Richard’s Hospice with other members of the Worcestershire Ambassadors and their friends and family.

Coun Riaz said: “Most of our group had undertaken various levels of training in advance of the walk, but on the day itself, legs were still aching and feet were very sore with blisters.

“This was undoubtedly a tough challenge, but I think I can speak for everyone when I say what a wonderful experience it was. We are still buzzing from the achievement and the delight of raising so much for our amazing St Richard’s Hospice.”
