Worcestershire On Demand Bus service extended to further areas in Malvern Hills District

THE POPULAR Worcestershire On Demand Bus is expanding to more areas, giving more people across the county access to flexible, convenient ways to travel.

From Monday, two brand-new zones launched and one existing zone has expanded, building on the success of the current Worcestershire on Demand services.

A new North Central zone will bring on demand buses to communities including Harvington, Belbroughton, Hagley, Clent, Romsley and Frankley.

A new North Malvern zone has also been introduced, serving areas such as Leigh Sinton, Rushwick, Knightwick, Martley and Hallow.

And the existing Wychavon zone has been extended to include Hanbury, Ombersley and Hartlebury plus others.

To ensure smooth and efficient operations across these areas, the new and expanded zones will operate with journeys capped at 15km – around nine miles – as the crow flies.

Coun Karl Perks, Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport at Worcestershire County Council, said: “It’s fantastic to see Worcestershire’s on-demand bus service going from strength to strength.

“This expansion means even more residents will be able to enjoy flexible, reliable transport that fits around their lives.

“It’s another step forward in making sustainable travel an easy and convenient choice for everyone across the county.”

To celebrate the launch of the new and expanded zones, travel across all Worcestershire on Demand zones is free between now and Saturday, November 29.

Following this, all journeys will cost £1 throughout December, in line with the ticket scheme running on the fixed route bus network.

A further North West zone will follow in January, predominantly serving the district of Wyre Forest, including Bewdley, Stourport, and Tenbury Wells.

Passengers can book journeys easily through the free Worcestershire on Demand app, available from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The app guides users to nearby ‘virtual bus stops’, provides real-time updates, and ensures efficient shared travel.
