Worcestershire residents urged to be 'flood ready' as winter approaches

Malvern Editorial 21st Nov, 2020   0

COUNCIL chiefs are warning residents in Worcestershire to be ‘flood ready’ as we approach winter.

Worcestershire County Council and the Environment Agency are highlighting the dangers of flooding to raise awareness about what people can do before, during and after a flood.

Councillor Tony Miller, the council’s cabinet member with responsibility for environment, said:

“Flooding can have a devastating impact on people’s lives and livelihoods and that’s why we are committed to investing in flood alleviation schemes to better protect our residents against these elements.”

There are several steps people can take to help them plan for a flood.

This includes signing up for free flood warnings, proofing your home and installing air brick covers.

There is also help available across the county for anyone who experiences a flood in their property.
