TWO students from a Malvern school have penned novels to raise money for charity.
Evie Baker and Josie Jarvis, Year Six students at Wyche CE Primary School, have been drafting hard since last September under the guidance of their teacher.
The 11-year-olds are now selling their published mini novels and all the money raised will go towards Gofu Juu, a school in Tanga, Tanzania, which the Wyche shares a close relationship with.
Josie said: “At Gofu Juu, the children get a plate of rice and beans every day but sometimes this is the only meal they have.
“When Esther, the headteacher, visited she told u having a full belly means the children are able to work harder and pass their tests.”
“Each meal costs 5p. Our books cost £3 each so for each one sold we can fund an extra 60 meals for the children.”
Both girls have taken a darker inspiration for their writing.
Evie’s thriller ‘Lurking In The Shadows’ describes strange happenings at a school camp.
Josie delves into a deathly encounter with her horror novel ‘Darkness’.
Evie said: “Writing has been fun, but really hard work.”
A book signing will take place at Malvern Book Co-operative on St Ann’s Road between 10am and 12pm on Saturday.
