A year of eating local

Malvern Editorial 6th Nov, 2013 Updated: 20th Oct, 2016   0

MEMBERS of Ledbury Food Group found out about living on local food for a year during a talk at their meeting.

Describing Herefordshire as ‘Herefoodshire’, Trish Marsh talked about the 12 months she spent eating produce from the county, using producers, independent shops and farmers’ markets.

A spokesman said: “Not everything was easy – she had to make special arrangements to obtain local bread flour and Herefordshire is not yet producing olives or coffee. She challenged others to give it a go.

“Ledbury independent shops and cafés provided a range of raffle prizes featuring local food which were appreciated by the well-attended meeting. Fran Robinson, chair of the group, provided the meeting with details of activities that the group wish to progress to support the local food economy.
