Malvern Editorial 30th Oct, 2017   0

THE SEARCH is on for Malvern’s finest young poet to unveil a new sculpture in town.

Rose Bank Gardens is set to gain a new skylark statue which will join the current buzzards beneath the Malvern Hills.

The sculpture was commissioned by the Autumn in Malvern Festival and its chairman town councillor Peter Smith.

It will be created by Walenty Pytel who created the landmark buzzards piece.

And Malvern Town Council has urged Key Stage Two pupils to write poems inspired by the theme of skylarks.

The poems will be judged by Coun Smith and the Mayor of Malvern Coun Cynthia Palmer.

The pupil whose poem is chosen will be awarded the opportunity to help unveil the sculpture and to read their words at the official opening.

Any poems should be submitted by the end of the day on Monday, November 13 either by post to Malvern Town Council, 28-30 Belle Vue Terrace, Malvern, WR14 4PZ or by emailing town clerk at [email protected].
