WORCESTERSHIRE’s Moeen Ali helped England to recovery on the opening day of the first Test against Bangladesh.
Ali made a crucial 68 from 170 balls at Chittagong as the tourists closed on 258-7.
The New Road all-rounder came in with England, despite winning the toss, in big trouble at 21-3 before he made vital partnerships with Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow to help them to respectability.
Ali’s knock came to an end when he was caught behind off the bowling of debutant Mehedi Hasan Miraz who took five wickets on an eventful day of Test cricket.
England will hope to boost their overnight score on Friday morning when they resume with Chris Woakes (36 not out) and Adil Rashid (5 not out) at the crease.
