WORCESTERSHIRE star Moeen Ali will just need one more run tomorrow (Thursday) to make his fourth century for England in Test match cricket.
Ali ended the opening day of England’s Test series against India on 99 not out after the tourists made a bright start to the opening Test finishing play in a commanding position at 311-4.
Ali enjoyed a 179-run fourth wicket stand with Joe Root after he came in when England were reduced to 102-3.
Root made his eleventh Test hundred by scoring 124 before he was out caught and bowled by Umesh Yadav.
Ali finished the day stranded on the dreaded 99 not out alongside Ben Stokes who was unbeaten on 19.
Ali’s three previous Test centuries have come against Sri Lanka (both this year and in 2014) and Pakistan.
