Boyle rescues Ledbury with late equaliser

TOM Boyle was the hero for Ledbury Town as the striker scored a dramatic late equaliser to earn his side a well deserved 3-3 draw against Penncroft at New Street.

Town were also indebted to keeper Nicholas Blakeway who pulled off a series of superb saves, but Ledbury may feel it was two points dropped as they stormed out of the blocks and took a 2-0 lead.

Dan Herbert broke the deadlock before Neil Gardiner doubled their advantage in the 24th minute.

Penncroft were not to be undone, though, as they hit back with two goals in the space of five minutes.

After Curtis Smith got his side off the mark, the visitors quickly backed it up with a goal from Ben Lycett to level the score at half time.

Despite the double blow, Ledbury started the second period strongly as they forced Luke Kriskinans into a number of saves.

But it was Penncroft who were next to find the back of the net when Jake Lloyd fired home.

With a bumper home crowd roaring them on, Town piled forward in search of an equaliser before Boyle scored with five minutes left to send the supporters into jubilation.

Next up for Ledbury is a home game against Wem Town on Saturday (3pm).
