EVIE Richards won short track bronze at the UCI Cycling World Championships to add another medal to her collection following a thrilling race at Glentress Forest in Scotland.
Richards led heading into the 10th and final lap of the women’s mountain bike cross-country short track race, after a group of six riders broke away on lap five, only to be caught by France’s defending champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot on the climb who went on to claim gold in a time of 21 minutes 16 seconds.
However, Richards dug deep to ensure she came home with bronze as she finished nine seconds behind Ferrand-Prevot while Dutch rider Puck Pieterse took silver four seconds behind the leader.
The Malvern mountain biker placed sixth in the Olympic distance cross-country race later in the week.
Richards won cross-country gold at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and became world champion over the cross-country Olympic distance in 2021.
