On-fire Town put nine past Dudley

DAVE Reynolds and Lee Hooper bagged hat-tricks as Malvern Town thrashed managerless Dudley Town 9-1 at the Langland Stadium on Saturday.

The West Midlands Regional League encounter was all but over with only a quarter of the game gone as Town swept into a 5-0 lead.

Louis Loader opened the scoring as he notched up a brace, while James Lush was also among the goal scorers as Malvern secured their sixth successive victory at home.

The emphatic result also takes their goal tally up to 19 in three games following their 4-0 win over Smethwick Rangers and their 6-0 thumping of Ledbury Town in the Worcester Infirmary Minor Cup.

With management duo Andy Wyton and Jason Tonks leaving Dudley in mid-week, the visitors were expecting a tough afternoon at the Langland Stadium as they fielded a side made up of the club’s youngsters.

And Malvern refused to show any mercy as they opened the floodgates on the fourth minute when Loader slotted home.

Dudley were unable to contain their opponents who added a second moments later when Reynolds volleyed the ball over William Hunt’s head.

More goals soon followed as Lush and Loader found the back of the net before Hooper fired in a penalty after Jamie Thomas was brought down in the box.

The striker then turned provider as he set up Reynolds for his second as Malvern moved 6-0 after just 25 minutes.

Dudley’s only chance of the game came just before the break when  Robert Whitley fired just over the bar. But this came after Town notched up a seventh in a one-sided first half as Hooper rounded Hunt before stroking the ball into the empty net.

It only took five minutes before the hosts got off the mark in the second period. The ball was cleared away three times – once off the line – before it fell to Loader who fed Dave Reynolds to score his third.

As the half wore on, Dudley managed to get more of the ball, but it still took a Malvern player to open their account. Town skipper Joe Endacott inadvertently steered the ball past Hill after Whitley’s cross struck the bar.

However, normal service was quickly resumed as Malvern laid siege on Dudley’s goal before Hooper completed his hat-trick with five minutes left.
