SAM Clark scored a hat-trick including a 90th minute winner as Malvern Town produced a stunning late comeback to beat Helston Ahtletic 4-3 in a thriller.
Clark completed a late turnaround in the final minute after drawing the Hillsiders level on 86 minutes after the same player opened the scoring early in the first half at Kellaway Park.
That came after Alex Bell doubled Malvern’s lead before Helston turned the game around either side of the break courtesy of goals from Reece Thomson, Jack Crago and Jacob Smith.
However, Clark’s late heroics earned the Hillsiders the points as Malvern stretched their unbeaten run to five matches.
And the result means Malvern sit 12th in the Southern League Division One South table.
The Hillsiders took the lead on eight minutes when Clark slotted the ball past Helston goalkeeper Kyle Moore from Joe Tumelty’s pass.
And Malvern doubled their lead on 26 minutes as Bell smashed home from 18-yards out after good work from Lewis Platt and Clark.
However, Helston halved the deficit three minutes before half time when Thomson finished into an empty net after catching Malvern goalkeeper Lewis Adams with the ball at his feet.
And the home completed the turnaround after the break with a pair of quickfire goals as Crago drew Helston level on 78 minutes before Smith put the hosts in front two minutes later.
A stunning goal from Clark looked to have rescued a point for the visitors three minutes from time only for the striker to complete his hat-trick in the final minute in a remarkable end to the contest.
Malvern are next in action against Evesham United on Tuesday, October 29 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the Spiers and Hartwell Stadium.
