SAM Clark’s goal earned Malvern Town a narrow 1-0 pre-season victory against Step Four side Slimbridge.
The Hillsiders hosted Slimbridge in the club’s first home pre-season friendly at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
Malvern began pre-season with a goalless draw against fellow Step Three side Worcester City.
And the Hillsiders looked to make a quick start against Slimbridge as Jay Malashanskyj fired an early effort into the side netting.
The home side went close again as Harry Clark carved out a chance for Matt Fulloway who fired off target.
The Slimbridge goalkeeper then made a smart save at close range to deny Levi Francis while H Clark fired another effort over the crossbar.
And the game’s only goal came in first-half injury time as S Clark guided the ball into the net after good work from H Clark.
Malvern controlled proceedings after the break as H Clark almost added a second goal as the Hillsiders claimed a first pre-season win ahead of the 2026/27 season.
