MALVERN Town returned to winning ways in the league with a 3-1 victory away at Swindon Supermarine.
Goals from Joe Bullock, Piers Walton and Joe Tumelty sealed back-to-back away wins for Lee Hooper’s side in all competitions at the Imagine Cruising Stadium.
The result means Malvern sit second in the Southern League Division One South table, two points behind leaders Winchester City.
Both teams observed a minute’s silence in memory of Billy Vigar who died during Chichester City’s match against Wingate and Finchley last weekend.
The home side went close early on as Seth Locke made a low save to keep out a shot from the edge of the penalty area.
However, Malvern broke the deadlock on nine minutes when Bullock nodded home Ben Baxter’s cross after good cross from Levi Francis.
The Hillsiders almost doubled their lead moments later as Tumelty forced Swindon goalkeeper Luke Purnell into a save with his feet.
Swindon equalised on the half-hour mark when Abu Gbla headed in a cross from the left from close range.
However, Malvern reclaimed the lead on 36 minutes as Walton hammered the ball into the roof of the net from Tumelty’s pass.
The visitors almost extended their lead before the break as Baxter went close from Ryan Brunt’s cross.
Malvern went even closer after the break as substitute Harry Clark saw his effort squirm through the hands of Purnell only for the Swindon keeper to gather the loose ball with Luke Salter in close attention.
However, the Hillsiders sealed the points on 78 minutes when Tumelty’s first time effort found the net from Clark’s low ball into the box.
And Clark almost added some gloss to the scoreline late on as he forced Purnell into a fine save.
Malvern are next in action against Bishops Cleeve on Tuesday, September 30 with kick-off at 7.45pm at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
