MALVERN Town have secured a play-off spot following Easter victories against Tavistock AFC and Sporting Club Inkberrow respectively.

The Hillsiders secured a 3-1 victory against Tavistock at Langsford Park as Sam Clark, Piers Walton and Harry Clark all found the net on Good Friday.

And Malvern then claimed a 1-0 win against Inkberrow at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium as Yuri Quintas’s first-half strike proved decisive.

The results mean Malvern have guaranteed a home play-off semi-final with the club second in the Southern League Division One South table with three matches left to play.

Victories against both Tavistock and Sporting mean Malvern have now won eight league matches in a row.

The Hillsiders knew a win against bottom-of-the-table Tavistock would seal a top-five finish for Lee Hooper’s side.

Malvern travelled to a Tavistock side without a win in the league since October.

However, the home side stunned Malvern on six minutes when Jack Crago finished confidently from the penalty spot after Town goalkeeper Josh Bishop brought down Kian Burch in the box.

The Hillsiders worked their way back into the game and drew level on 20 minutes as S Clark turned the ball home from close range from Levi Francis’s initial strike.

And Malvern completed the turnaround just two minutes later when Walton scored a carbon copy of the away side’s leveller.

The visitors went in search of more goals as Francis saw his strike on the half-hour mark pushed away by the goalkeeper.

Francis went close again at the start of the second period but saw his shot blocked after he rounded the keeper.

Malvern eventually found a third goal on 53 minutes when H Clark powered the ball into the net following a corner.

Bishop had to make a couple of saves late on as the Hillsiders comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to come away with the points.

And Malvern secured an eighth straight league win against Inkberrow which ensured the club can finish no lower than third in the table.

The game’s only goal came on 28 minutes as Quintas turned home a deep cross at the back post.

Malvern are next in action against Didcot Town on Saturday, April 11 with kick-off at 3pm at the Loop Meadow Stadium.
