PIERS Walton scored an injury-time winner as Malvern Town claimed a fifth straight league victory with a 1-0 success away at Willand Rovers.
Walton struck two minutes into injury time at Silver Street to extend the Hillsiders’ winning run.
The result means Malvern remain second in the Southern League Division One South table, 14 points clear of the chasing pack in the race for a play-off place.
Willand went close early on as Harley Sneap brought the ball down and also fired over the crossbar from distance.
Malvern’s Dion Molyneux then received a yellow card after fouling Willand’s Harvey Dorothy on the halfway line as the last defender.
Chances remained at a premium up to the half-hour mark as Fin Rooke forced Josh Bishop into the game’s first meaningful save at his near post.
And the first half ended without incident with the game goalless at the break.
Malvern made a fast start to the second period with Rhomey Ashby-Hammond called into action twice after the break.
Neither side could carve out a clear-cut chance in the second half with the game heading for a stalemate.
However, Walton snatched the points for the Hillsiders at the death when he forced the ball home following a scramble in the box.
Malvern are also next in action against Exmouth Town on Saturday, March 28 with kick-off at 3pm at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.
