Hanley Castle and Upton crowned Worcestershire County League Division Four champions

Malvern Editorial 19th Sep, 2017   0

HANLEY Castle & Upton have been crowned champions of Worcestershire County League Division Four following their six-wicket victory over Worcester Thirds.

Todd Mathews (4-36) and Tony Hutchings (3-36) grabbed a share of the wickets for Hanley who skittled out the hosts for 160 after 41 overs.

Daniel Powell then fell one short of his half century in reply as Hanley secured victory after easing to 162-4.

The maximum 24 points for the visitors ensured they finished the campaign just one point above second-placed Bromsgrove Thirds, who also secured a maximum points victory at Hallow.

Next season Hanley can expect some feisty local derbies against fellow Malvern Hills sides Rushwick, Martley and Malvern.
