Hanley Castle High School pupil to run at National Schools' Championship

A HANLEY Castle High School student has qualified for the Worcestershire Schools Athletics cross country running team who will be participating in the National Schools’ Championship later this month.

Tirian Ashby will travel to the Norfolk County Showground in Norwich to compete in the two-day event which starts on Friday, March 17.

The 13-year-old took up running as a hobby four years ago, with Run in Malvern starting his interest.

He said: “I feel both nervous and excited about the run.

“I love running and I am proud of what I have achieved, but I am nervous because there will be better runners than me.

“I will just have to try my best.”

Mrs Stock, of Hanley Castle High School and is Tirian’s form tutor, added: “It’s brilliant to have seen Tirian grow in confidence and skill in his running.

“We are all behind him in this competition and wish him the best of luck”
