Hooper pleased as Malvern Town get back on track

BOSS Lee Hooper was delighted with how Malvern Town were able to ‘express themselves’ in the 2-0 victory over Shawbury United in the West Midlands Premier Division at the weekend.

James Febery opened the scoring for the Hillsiders on Saturday in the 43rd minute with a powerful long-range drive before Josh Hunt doubled the lead seven minutes from the end, firing home from inside the area.

The victory moved Malvern up to seventh place in the league standings.

“We played really well, especially in the second half,” said Hooper.

“Charlie Weaver kept us in it with some good saves in the opening period and after he saved the penalty, we didn’t look back and were worthy winners in the end.

“We got in behind them on several occasions after the break and could have won by a bigger margin, but they are a decent side so we are delighted to get the three points and a clean sheet.

“It leads us nicely into two away games this week.

“We needed this performance. We attacked well and were able to express ourselves so we’ll take this confidence into the next game now and hopefully add to our points tally.”

Malvern make the trip to Dudley Town tonight before travelling to Dudley Sports on Saturday.
