THIS WEEKEND will be a busy one for Malvern cyclist Evie Richards who aims to defend her World Championship title.

Richards will be in Luxembourg aiming to win the women’s under 23 2017 UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships take place in Luxembourg.

Last year saw Richards make history when she became the first ever under-23 women’s world cyclo-cross champion.

That performance in Zolder earned her a first set of rainbow stripes and also won her the prestigious British Cycling Ride of the Year award.

The Malvern teenager heads to Luxembourg on the back of another breakout year, having made the step up to world elite level in this season’s Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup – but will return to the under-23 ranks in a bid to retain her world title.

She heads to Bieles in form, having dominated in Bradford to successfully defend her British title earlier this month before finishing a world cup career high of sixth at the final round in Hoogerheide.

Richards is joined by Amira Mellor and Ffion James in the under-23 women’s race, who won silver and bronze respectively in the National Cyclo-cross Championships.

You can watch Evie and the remaining eleven Great Britain Cycling Team riders in action live on the British Cycling website – https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/

Richards’ title defence will be streamed live from 11.50am.
