Jenkins reaches World Championship second round

LEDBURY’s Terry Jenkins produced the goods just when required to reach the second round of the PDC World Championships.

The world number 11 beat American Darin Young 3-1 to secure a place in the last 32 stage of the sport’s biggest content.

However Jenkins was made to do it the hard way after coming back from 1-0 and two legs down in the second set before claiming victory.

Young won the first set on the throw after coming back from 2-1 down and looked to be in further control when he won the first two legs of the second set.

But check outs of 116 and 104 sprung the Bull into action before winning a deciding leg to level the match at 1-1.

A 116 checkout to break the throw early in the third set paved the way for Jenkins to take a 2-1 lead.

And the fourth set did not go all Jenkins’ way as Young took a 2-1 lead only for the Ledbury ace to take the next two legs to claim the match.

Jenkins will face Welshman Mark Webster in the next round on Monday, December 28.
