MALVERN TOWN boss Les Jones has said his side’s one goal defeat to West Midlands (Regional) League leaders Shawbury United is another reflection of how far the club has progressed.
Malvern boss Jones called Shawbury’s 1-0 victory on Saturday at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium, a ‘smash and grab’ victory.
The result saw Malvern drop two places to eighth in the table and bring an end to their unbeaten run in 2016.
But for Jones, there was plenty of positives to take away from Saturday’s game.
“It’s very disappointing that we lost but we dominated a lot of the game,” he told the Observer.
“We had a lot of chances and just could not take them, whereas Shawbury, they had one key chance and they took it and it’s the kind of luck that goes your way when you’re top of the table.
“There’s no doubting that we are not lacking confidence, we will go out again this week and get a result.
“But it shows how far Malvern have come to say that we are disappointed to have lost 1-0 to the league leaders.”
