LEDBURY Town were made to pay for a mediocre first half display as they slumped to a 3-2 defeat to Wyrley at New Street.
The home side went into the game in confident mood following recent wins over Wolverhampton United and Pershore Town.
But they came unstuck against Wyrley who kept up their hopes of a top five finish in the West Midlands Regional Division One table.
Ledbury looked set for hard afternoon when Nathaniel Hare fired the away side into the lead after just nine minutes.
The visitors continued to attack and their efforts were again rewarded when Stefan Gordon doubled their advantage after making a superb solo run.
But the hosts found a way back into the game when striker Jamie Welch netted six minutes before the interval.
But Ledbury’s chances of a comeback were dealt a blow just minutes after the restart when Paul Yeomans’ shot was deflected into the net.
And their frustrations continued when they were forced to play the remainder of the game with ten men when one of their three substitutes Mitchell Elliott was carried off with a leg injury.
But Ledbury managed to claw another goal back when Daniel Herbert headed home to make it 3-2.
Despite numerous chances, though, Paul Mann’s men were unable to score an equaliser as the visitors took the points.
