LEDBURY Town’s season got off to a disappointing start as Joshua Carvel inspired Penncroft to a 3-1 win in Division One of the West Midlands Regional League at New Street.
The striker bagged a hat-trick as Ledbury’s hopes of kicking off their campaign on a positive note under new management duo Zac Blood and Pete Boyle were dashed.
There was little between the two sides before the 35th minute when Carvel opened the scoring after taking the ball round keeper Nicholas Blakeway.
Craig Kitchener managed to get Ledbury back on level terms moments later when he headed home Blood’s corner, but just before the break Carvel added a second for Penncroft.
Despite the blow, Town continued to go forward in search of an equaliser, but they were made to pay for some wasteful finishing as Carvel struck late on to complete his hat-trick and wrap up the victory.
