MALVERN Town booked their place in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase with a 4-1 victory over higher-ranked Tividale at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

The Midland League Premier Division basement side had taken the lead early on when Dan Smith slotted home from Lewis McPike’s assist before Nathan Hughes pulled the Hillsiders level to leave the score at 1-1 going into the half-time break.

After the interval super substitute Matthew Turner fired Malvern into the lead in the 66th minute before Dene Whittal-Williams added the hosts’ third goal of the afternoon eight minutes later.

Sean Smith then rounded off the scoring for Malvern with a lobbed effort in the 90th minute.

Les Jones’ Malvern will travel to East Midlands Counties League outfit Birstall United on Saturday, September 24 (3pm KO) in the next round.
