Malvern Town looking to beat the weather for Dudley Sports clash

Malvern Editorial 15th Dec, 2017   0

MALVERN Town will be hoping to beat the weather this weekend when they entertain Dudley Sports in the West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division this weekend.

After losing 3-1 to Stourport Swifts in the quarter-finals of the Worcestershire Senior Urn last Wednesday, the Hillsiders were unable to get back to winning ways on Saturday as their league clash Herefordshire side Wellington was abandoned due to the heavy snowfalls.

And Malvern are praying the surface at the HDAnywhere Community Stadium will have recovered ahead of Saturday’s fixture against 15th placed Sports.

Only Shaun Smith (holiday) is missing for Malvern and boss Jones stressed the importance of picking up three points, should the game get the go-ahead.

“With the top of the league being so bunched up it is important we do not fall off the pace,” he said.

“Dudley Sports, despite their league position, are a very good side and they will be coming to cause a bit of an upset.

“We need try and get the game on because we want to keep the pressure on and not play catch up.

“We have two games before Christmas and it would be good to have picked up six points by then.”
