Newey leads the way for Malvern Joggers at Worcestershire Beacon Race

MALVERN Joggers’ Jon Newey was the club’s leading runner at the gruelling seven-mile Worcestershire Beacon Race.

Newey completed the race in 50.46 on Saturday while fellow Jogger Catherine James was the first local lady to cross the line in a time of 1:03.38.

The race, which reaches a maximum altitude of 1,395ft and is now its 61st year, started at the Rosebank Gardens before runners made their way past St Ann’s Well and the Goldmine to the Beacon.

Runners then descended towards West Malvern and returned to the start point via North Hill and the Sugarloaf.




In total, 27 Malvern Joggers took part in the challenge.
